By subscribing to our mailing list you are applying to be a member of Auchtermuchty Heritage, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation with charitable number SC048894 (hereinafter called “Muchty Heritage” or “Auchtermuchty Heritage”) subject to the terms of its Constitution and the approval of the Board of Trustees of Muchty Heritage.

Purposes of Muchty Heritage
Our purposes are:

  • the advancement of education, arts, heritage, culture and science by undertaking the following:
  • to advance and encourage an interest in history, with particular emphasis on the history of Auchtermuchty and the surrounding area (Auchtermuchty and the surrounding area being hereinafter referred to together as “Auchtermuchty”)
  •  to educate and inform members of the organisation and the public generally, and to encourage and facilitate research, understanding and publication of the cultural heritage of Auchtermuchty;
  • to preserve, conserve, understand and interpret, within the national context, the historical and cultural heritage of Auchtermuchty; 
  • to provide a community resource through the collection, classification and conservation of items of historical interest relating to Auchtermuchty;
  • to promote and advance heritage in Auchtermuchty as a source of pride and to address heritage issues affecting Auchtermuchty, 
  • to hold meetings, exhibitions, lectures and conferences and to issue publications relating to the history and heritage of Auchtermuchty and 
  • to promote any other activities as will properly attain the objects of Auchtermuchty Heritage.

Data Protection Policy of Muchty Heritage
Muchty Heritage is committed to protecting your personal information.  In this notice, references to ‘we’ and ‘us’ means Muchty Heritage. This policy explains how we collect and use the personal information about you.
Muchty Heritage will be a “controller” of the personal information that you provide us in this form, unless otherwise stated.
When you apply to be a member of Muchty Heritage we will ask you for the following personal information: name, address, telephone number, email address.

Why we need your personal information
We need to collect our members’ personal information so that we can manage your membership.  We will use our members’ personal information to send you membership communication by post, text or email in relation to essential membership services, including but not limited to general meeting notices and information on the activities of Muchty Heritage. 
We also process our members’ personal information in pursuit of our legitimate interests to promote and encourage the purposes of Muchty Heritage by sending members’ communications for upcoming events.  These events may be filmed or photographed, and your personal information, including filmed or photographed images captured from our meetings and events and we may use this information for promotional, education and development purposes in accordance with the purposes of Muchty Heritage.  
We also process our members’ personal information to respond to and communicate with members regarding your questions, comments, support needs or complaints, concerns or allegations in relation to the activities, membership and board of trustees of Muchty Heritage.  We will use your personal information to investigate your complaint, terminate membership and take action where appropriate.
Where we process your personal information in pursuit of our legitimate interests, you have the right to object to us using your personal information for the above purposes.  If you wish to object to any of the above processing, please email The Secretary.  If we agree and comply with your objection, this may affect our ability to undertake the tasks above for the benefit of you as a member.

Who we share your personal information with
We may share your personal information with our professional and legal advisors for the purposes of taking advice.
We may share your personal information with other members of Muchty Heritage to further the purposes of Muchty Heritage, including but not limited to organising events and meetings.  In the event that we do share personal information with external third parties who support or have similar purposes to Muchty Heritage, we will only share such personal information strictly required for the specific purpose and take reasonable steps to ensure that recipients shall only process the disclosed personal information in accordance with those purposes.

How we protect your personal information
Your personal information is stored electronically via MailChimp. For the purposes of maintaining our charitable status, copies of the membership list are kept on GoogleDrive and on PCs. All of these methods of storage are password protected.  Your personal information is accessed by our appointed Board of Trustees for the purposes set out above.

How long we keep your personal information
We will only keep your personal information for as long as necessary to provide you with membership services.  Unless you ask us not to, we will review and possibly delete your personal information where you have not renewed your membership with us for three years.

Your rights

Your rights in relation to your personal information are:

  • you have a right to request access to the personal information that we hold about you by making a “subject access request”;
  • if you believe that any of your personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, you have a right to request that we correct or complete your personal information;
  • you have a right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information for specific purposes; and
  • if you wish us to delete your personal information, you may request that we do so.

Any requests received by Muchty Heritage will be considered under applicable data protection legislation.  If you remain dissatisfied, you have a right to raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

How to resign your membership/unsubscribe

You may resign your membership/unsubscribe at any time by licking the link at the bottom of our emails, or by emailing The Secretary.
